13 Days Gerenuk Safari

Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli: Drive time: 3 Hours 30 Minutes
We will pick you from your Nairobi Hotel in the early morning at 5.30 a.m and drive south across the Athi Plains, home of the Masai, via the trading town of Namanga near the Tanzanian border and on to Amboseli. Arrive at Amboseli at around 8.30 a.m and enter the Park driving slowly, in search for lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, gazelles, antelopes and different kind of birds and a host of other wildlife species. This morning game drive will be for approximately 4 hours. Check in at Oltukai Lodge, after checking in take your lunch followed by a short afternoon relaxation. At 4 pm go for the evening game drive in the small but game filled Amboseli national park with a chance to see Elephants, lions, cheetahs, gazelles, wildebeests, buffalos zebras, warthogs, different birds and of course Mount Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at the Oltukai Lodge

Day 2: Amboseli full Day
Have an early morning game drive at 6.30 a.m to 8.30 a.m when you return to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, depart for another game driive at 10.00 a.m to 12.00 noon when you return to the lodge/ camp for lunch. After lunch, relax until 4.00 p.m when you will leave for an evening game drive.
Dinner and overnight at the Oltukai Lodge

Day 3: Amboseli to Nairobi National Park. Drive time: 3 Hours 3 Minutes
Depart Amboseli and drive to Nairobi a distance to be covered in 3.5 Hours. Arrive at the Nairobi National park and have a game drive en route to the Nairobi tented camp for lunch. After lunch, evening game drive at 4.00 to 6.00 p.m. Dinner and overnight at the Nairobi Tented Camp.

Day 4: Nairobi to Ol Pejeta conservancy: Drive time: 3 Hours 30 Minutes
Have an early Game drive at 6.30 to 8.00 a.m followed by breakfast. After breakfast, depart the Nairobi National park at 9.00 a.m. and drive to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy arriving at around 1.00 p.m. Lunch will be at the Serena Sweetwaters Camp. After lunch, depart for an afternoon game drive at 2.30 p.m to 6.00 p.m. Return to the Serena Sweetwater Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Full day Sweetwaters
Spend the full day at this expansive Ole Pejeta conservancy and enjoy extended game drives in the early morning, mid morning as well as afternoon. Lunch will be at the Serena Sweet waters camp. Visit the Chimpanzee sanctuary as well as an optional visit to the cultural village. Breakfast and dinner at the Serena Sweetwater Camp

Day 6: Ol Pejeta to Samburu. Drive time 3 Hours
After breakfast, depart Ol Pejeta conservancy and drive to Samburu Game Reserve set in the rugged semi-arid northern region with spectacular scenic landscape. The Ewaso Nyiro River dotted with doum palms meanders through the reserve giving it an oasis setting and the Lodges are set on the banks of the river, the flora and fauna with sparkling spring water flowing and cascading throughout the lodges grounds. The Samburus are cousins of the Maasai tribe and are pastoralists. Arrive in time for lunch at the Samburu Intrepids Camp. In the afternoon depart on an exciting game-viewing drive in search of game found only north of the equator that include the long necked gerenuk, Grevy zebra, reticulated giraffe, beisa oryx and the Somali ostrich. Return to Samburu Intrepids Camp for dinner and overnight. Meal Plan: {FB}

Day 7: Full day Samburu
Full day in Samburu, with an early morning and late afternoon game drive. Samburu is a beautiful and game abundant park, home to rarely found species such as the Beisa Oryx, Grevy's zebra, blue-necked Somali ostrich and reticulated giraffe. Optional activities include a visit to a local Samburu village, camel riding and guided nature and bird walks. All meals and overnight at the Samburu Intrepids Camp . Meal Plan: {FB}

Day 8: Samburu to Aberdares; Drive time: 4 Hours
Depart Samburu after an early morning breakfast. Arrive at the Aberdares range base hotel at 10.00 a.m. You will will be transferred to the Ark for lunch. Afternoon at leisure watching wildlife from the comfort of your room or restaurant. Optional game drive is available upon request. Dinner and overnight at the Ark.

Day 9: Aberdares to Lake Nakuru. Drive time: 2 Hours 45 Minutes
Descend to the base hotel after breakfast where you will find our driver waiting. Drive to the floor of the Rift Valley - making a brief stop at Nyahururu Thomson Falls as well as the Equator, Thompson falls was named after Joseph Thompson, one of the first European explorers who walked from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the 1880's. Proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park arriving at the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge for lunch. Afternoon game drive will be at 4.00 to 6.00 p.m. besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approx 400 other species of birds visiting the lake. Also, many species of game can be found in the park including the introduced Rothschild's giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game. Dinner and overnight at the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge. Meal plan: {B, L, D}

Day 10: Lake Nakuru to Maasai mara: Drive time: 5 Hours 30 Minutes
Have an early morning breakfast at 6.30 a.m then depart Lake Nakuru and drive to Maasai mara. Arrive Maasai mara in good time for lunch. Lunch will be at the Mara Serena Safari Lodge. After lunch, you will relax until 4.00 p.m time for your evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at the Mara Serena Safari Lodge
 
Day 11 & 12: Maasai mara
Have an early morning cup of coffee then depart for a game viewing session at 6.30 am to 8.30 am. Return to the Lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, depart for another game viewing session that will last until 12.30 pm. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, relax until 4.00 pm time for your evening game viewing session which will last until 6.00 pm. Dinner and overnight at the Mara Serena Safari Lodge

Day 13: Maasai mara to Nairobi: Drive time; 6 Hours
Have an early morning breakfast then depart Maasai mara at 7.00 a.m and drive to Nairobi airport arriving at 12.30 to 1.00 p.m.
